Unpaved, But Not Unbroken

I think the best days are the ones when we've got nothing to give. We wake up empty, and yet we go to bed filled-up. God never ceases to work through our weaknesses.

It's been a good week over here. Not too long, busy but not too bad. God really put in me in places where other people could be pouring into me. Healthy. Fulfilling.

Sometimes, the kids have a bad time. Things at home pile up, they don't find a healthy way of escape, bad choices get made. Last weekend, one of the kids hit that wall -- hard. He broke a lot of windows around the back of the school, got inside, got chased down and tasered and arrested. He's in jail; he might be there for a long time. It makes the inside of me hurt.

A group of YWAMers are coming here in 16 days, coming from Hawaii to work in Lodge Grass. They'll be here three months. I'm excited.

God is doing something here.

It occurred to me the other day that we don't have to sit around hoping to be a part of something big, something beautiful. We don't have to hope that adventure will come, that our road won't be a dull one. When you follow Him, the beauty and heartache and adventure ... it's there. The road He leads us down is not a dark tunnel under the city. He takes us on the hard road, up a trail unpaved but not unbroken, through the valleys, onto the mountains.

And we don't walk alone.
